Thanksgiving Groceries for Juniata County Families in Need

This year, the Rotary Club of Mifflintown and the Juniata County Food Pantry are joining forces to bring Thanksgiving meals to Juniata County families in need.  All the groceries to make up a Thanksgiving dinner will be distributed on Saturday, Nov 22, 10:00AM - Noon, at the River Church Parking lot (CJEMS) north of Mifflintown on Rt 35. This will be a drive through distribution like last year, so please stay in your vehicle when you arrive and someone will come to you. This will be the only time to receive the Thanksgiving meal this year.   To qualify for the Thanksgiving distribution, everyone must present some form of ID (Driver’s license, Access card, Medicare card, etc).  In addition, any family NOT a current customer (within last 12 months) of the Juniata County Food Pantry must provide current proof of Juniata County residency: current photo ID with Juniata County address or a recent piece of mail (utility bill or lease) with name and address; and sign an income eligibility form at the distribution.  If you are picking up a meal for someone else, you must have a note, signed and dated by the recipient, allowing you to pick up the meal for them, as well as the required proof listed above.  There is no need to arrive early.  Please ensure you have room in your vehicle for the meal box.

If you are already blessed with plenty of food and would like to help us provide holiday meals, we are seeking the following donations: Turkeys, brownie/cookie mix, cranberry sauce, stuffing, instant potatoes, and canned sweet potatoes.  Monetary and gift card donations are also appreciated.

For more information, please contact the Juniata County Food Pantry at 717-436-9718.  The Pantry is located at 114 N. Main St, Mifflintown.  Mailing address is PO Box 44, Mifflintown, 17059.  Hours are Tuesdays 9-12 and 1-5 and Saturdays 9-12, however donations of non-perishable items may be left at any time in our vestibule.
